An Evening Of Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy Live at the Womans Club of Ridgewood

Thank you to everyone who came out this weekend! This was a unique take on Edgar Allen Poe’s most famous short stories, coupled with special drinks for each of the 4 stories they told. It was a pleasure to host. The event takes place in a dark speakeasy wherein Poe historians and actors tell a reimagining of Poe’s most famous works: “The Raven,” “The Tell-Tale Heart,” “The Masque of Red Death” and “The Black Cat.” And the environs within the traveling speakeasy evoke the bygone era in which Poe lived ( he died over 150 years ago), with transportive gothic accents.

The actors performance was amazing & they were so polite. -a pleasure to work with. In concert with the entertainment, guests will sip on drinks inspired by each tale throughout the evening: The Pale Blue Eye (blueberry vodka, fresh lemon juice, rose syrup and topped with La Croix); Cocktail of Red Death (100-proof vodka, cherry herring, benedictine liquor, lime juice, pineapple juice and bitters); Edgar’s Twisted Brandy Milk Punch (bourbon, brandy, vanilla cream, milk syrup and half and half); and The Nevermore (orange peach blossom vodka, lime juice, and secret spices).

We were delighted to hear that people from all over not only came and but went downtown afterwards for dinner and entertainment.
